The Corporate Fraud Team Manager, M Crowe, presented the Corporate Fraud Annual Summary for 2022/23, which summarised the key achievements of the Corporate Fraud Team for the year.

M Crowe reported that 111 investigations were undertaken during the year, of which 45 had a form of fraud detected or proven. This represented a 4% increase on 2021/22. Social Housing fraud, including Right to Buy applications, was the category with the most success throughout the year but other notable examples of fraud were highlighted for the Committee. This included sub-letting, which could be difficult to detect but the measures were in place to identify sub-letting; including the “Cheat in your Street” initiative.
